OpenOffice 4.1.5 upgrade problem

Downloaded 4.1.5 and tried to upgrade OpenOffice on my Windows 10 laptop. The installation program gets past the installation directory confirmation step but when I hit the install button on the next screen the green bar barely begins to move and then the installation window disappears. I tried the MS install/uninstall fix referenced in other messages and all it did was uninstall my current version. Now I have nothing. Tried to install 4.1.5 after that and got the same result as before. No clue how to proceed. I get no error messages at all during this process. Has anyone else run into this?

Have you managed to fix your issue? It may be linked to Defender settings (a lot of problems reported in the forum).
As a workaround, you can try the portable version of AOO. Or LibreOffice.
