[Solved] Updating from 4.1.3 to 4.1.5, get strange error
[Solved] Updating from 4.1.3 to 4.1.5, get strange error
I've been trying to upgrade to version 4.1.5 on Windows 10. I have downloaded the file and have begun the install several times. I get the same error message "please close your open office 4.1.5 files". However, I do not have 4.1.5 installed yet and have checked several times - the current installation is still 4.1.3. What should I do?

Start the Task Manager by pressing CTRL + Shift + Esc. Look on the Details tab for any process starting with soffice and kill it. Then try rerunning the installation.

I tried this. Killed two processes starting with soffice - both were for open office 4.1.3. Tried two times to install 4.1.5. Didn't work got same error message.

If you are still getting the same error message there are most probably other instances of soffice or openoffice components running in TaskMamager that you have not yet removed.

Hmm - I checked task manager, both under process and details and didn't see instances of either soffice or openoffice.

I am also having this issue with closing 4.1.5 mid-installation with zero soffice processes running. Please advise on how to proceed.

Nevermind...I uninstalled AOO 4.1.3 via the Add/Remove Programs/Features Control Panel, ran CCleaner to make sure that all Registry entries for AOO were toast, then I ran the AOO 4.1.5 installer. Success!

Thanks!! This worked for me too. I deleted V4.1.3 using add/remove. Then ran the installer for 4.1.5 and it worked without a problem. Nice workaround!
This does beg the question of why the install for 4.1.5 didn't work in the first place, but all's well that ends well.
