Office won’t let me change the temporary files path
I go to Tools —> Options —> OpenOffice —> Paths —> Temporary files
The default location is: C:\Users{username}\AppData\Local\Temp\OpenOfficePortableTemp\temp
I change it to a new location, then I close Office, then when I run it again the path is back to the default location.
The same happens in both OpenOffice and LibreOffice.

I've just checked - one needs to Edit the temp file path using the Edit button, then navigate to the desired destination directory

That's what I do, and it reverts back to the original once I close it.RoryOF wrote:I've just checked - one needs to Edit the temp file path using the Edit button, then navigate to the desired destination directory

I did what I set out in my previous posting and the new path remained after a restart. I have just verified - the same actions work and the new setting holds on a Windows computer.

Re: Office won’t let me change the temporary files path
Thank you for verifying. I wonder if it has anything to do with my version of Office being portable.RoryOF wrote:I did what I set out in my previous posting and the new path remained after a restart. I have just verified - the same actions work and the new setting holds on a Windows computer.
Are you using a portable version or an installed one?

I think so.dimailer wrote:I wonder if it has anything to do with my version of Office being portable.
Usually, there is a .ini file in the root folder of the portable application that sets the folders. You can override most of the settings. I use a portable version on my office machine and I managed to use the legacy folder in my roaming profile instead of the portable profile.
I use the winpenpack version because it's easier to tweak (IMHO).
If you don't find out what to modify, I can post my version of the ini file (if you use the winpenpack version too).

Thank you Hagar, I installed WinPenPack and it resolved the issue.Hagar Delest wrote:If you don't find out what to modify, I can post my version of the ini file (if you use the winpenpack version too).
It was the PortableApps version that was acting up.
