I cannot load OpenOffice from the download
I cannot load OpenOffice from the download
I have an Open Office 4.1.2 on my computer. I want to update to 4.1.5. I downloaded the exe file [English UK edition] but it wouldn't run. It got so far whilst I fill in the forms but when I choose to install it, it got stuck on "install".
Help me please.

Re: I cannot load Open Office from the download.
It should have installed before you were asked to "fill in the forms". Check that you have downloaded from http://www.openoffice.org/download, which will redirect you to a SourceForge server. Your download will start in five or so seconds, without need to click on anything else.

Re: I cannot load Open Office from the download.
I did all that you told me to do, I couldn't install Open Office 4.1.5.
Those comments I made "fill in forms" forget it, I was mistaken.
The two images I have uploaded below.

Start TaskManager (Ctrl Shift Esc) and kill all soffice or openoffice processes shown on TM';s tabs. Exit TM, then try an install without rebooting computer.

I cannot find the 2 things you mentioned last reply.
What do I do? Do I to restart it [the computer] leaving the exe file intact?

They must be in Task Manager, even if you can't find them. Another way to achieve the same objective is to right click on the blue globe with white seagulls in your Windows system tray and choose "Exit" or "Quit" -sorry, so long since I've done this (10 years!) I've forgotten exact word used. Then, without restarting computer, try an install.

Re: I cannot load Open Office from the download.
I have found TASK MANAGER without clicking on the white seagulls; you just have to find an empty space where your task bar should be and right-click, hey presto the TASK MANAGER.
I can't find ANYTHING that relates to Open Office? I go through the TABS, I cannot find ANYTHING that relates to Open Office, or anything vaguely that relates to Open Office.
What do you suggest?
Jeff Gordon.

Right click on the globe with white seagulls and choose Exit (or Quit). That should remove the Quickstarter from the running applications and allow you to install the later OpenOffice.

They should be on a blue orb in the system tray.

What are you talking about, a blue orb in the system tray. Your PC's must be different in the USA, we have no blue orbs; never had
What am I going to do about that! Help me?

Re: I cannot load OpenOffice from the download
I have told you what I know, beyond a doubt, is running on it - the screenshot you posted proves it.
Try it this way
Start OpenOffice. Select /Tools /Options /OpenOffice /Memory. Uncheck "Load OpenOffice during system startup" Press OK. Now close Open Office (/File /Exit). Restart your computer and now try an install of the OpenOffice download.
