[Solved] Default location

Post by MacyRoger »

Morning, and sorry to have to ask a basic question.
I installed Apache Open Office the other day and it, very politely, advized me not to change defalt file types until I'd tried it.
Now, when I want to change them, my Windows instalation, much more aggressive, denies the existence of Open Office on the system and won't offer it as an option, except 'to look for'. I need to find the actual location of the Open Office instalation in the file structure. What was that default folder, please ?
Your patience appreciated.
RM

G'day, and welcome to the community forum.

Apache OpenOffice installs in C:\Program Files\OpenOffice 4\program

The specific executables are scalc.exe for Calc, swriter.exe for Writer, sbase.exe for Base, sdraw.exe for Draw, simpress.exe for Impress (presentations), smath.exe for the equation editor and soffice.exe as the top level, that which you see when you start AOO without a document.

I think you can also re-run the installer and somewhere therein choose to set default file associations for Office documents.
Cheers
David

Ah, thanks. I had to search up a level and go to folder \Program Files (x86) , and then down the tree again.
Thanks for the quick response, Robleyd. RM

Sorry for that - I was using the structure for Win7 32 bit which is slightly different.
