[Solved] Apache OpenOffice 4.1.5 won't install

I have A Dell laptop that is running Windows 10 upgraded from Windows 7. I was using Open Office 4.1.3 without a problem. I tried to install version 4.1.5, but it will not install. I start the installation process. I get to the point where the process starts with the green bar indicating progress. The bar advances about 1/4" and then the window closes. Nothing else happens. No errors. No nothing.

@Phurd: Sounds completely normal up to the point where "Nothing else happens". The window is supposed to close, then the Windows Installer is supposed to start and display the OpenOffice 4.1.5 - Installation Wizard. If the Windows Installer isn't starting, then you will have to find out why it isn't starting on your system. There are many posts on Windows forums about problems with the Windows Installer. I can't confirm that they work because the Windows Installer always starts on my system.

You have assessed my problem correctly. The green bar briefly progresses. About 1/8 - 1/4" of green. The windows closes. That is the end. What do you suggest I do? I had the version 4.1.3 installed previously. I uninstalled it thinking that was the problem.

If there is a folder "OpenOffice 4.1.5 (en-US) Installation Files" on the Desktop, open the folder and double-click the setup.exe file to start the Installation Wizard.

Thanks to all for helping me get this installed. The fix was doing a Windows 10 upgrade. This was a serious upgrade and took about a day to complete.
