Updating to version 4.1.5.

Post by muomega »

I am running Windows 10 with A.O.O. 4.1.4. When I click the download button on the Sourceforge website I get the following message :-
This site can’t provide a secure connection
plus.google.com sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR.
What can I do to overcome this?

It is working OK for me (just now checked); I don't know why google.com comes into the matter. You shouldn't need to click any button on the Sourceforge site - the download should start automatically in about 5 seconds.

Go to http://www.openoffice.org/download/
If necessary, select your favorite operating system, language and version.
Click Download full installation
You will be transferred to Sourceforge and the download should start in a few seconds. DO NOT click on any other Download buttons.

You should then have your package.

Thank you for your advice. Unfortunately all the advice I have been given has failed to solve the problem. When I get to the Sourceforge page all I get are giant Twitter, Facebook, Google and Linkdin icons and the word connect in the top left hand corner. Nothing else happens even after waiting for several minutes.

Click on the "Problems Downloading?" button and select a server or the "direct link" link.
Edit: You may need to refresh your screen, or clear your browser cache, to see the more recent SourceForge screen.

Thank you everyone for trying to solve my problem. Further investigation seems to show that I am not even getting to the Sourceforge website. I have decide, therefore, to abandon my attempts to update and continue to use version 4.1.4. which appears to be adequate for my purposes.

I am trying to download Open Office for the first time. I am on Windows XP and don't know which version I am supposed to download, so I chose version 4.0

The page I am redirected to states:-

This site can’t provide a secure connection

sourceforge.net uses an unsupported protocol.
The client and server don't support a common SSL protocol version or cipher suite. This is likely to be caused when the server needs RC4, which is no longer considered secure.

What do I do?
