[Solved] Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
Problem Solved --- I increased the font for a doc, then printer wouldn't print it. When doing file, print see how the doc is large and off center.
I put the doc back to 12 font, didn't help. All OO docs now show this distorted preview and none will print. Tks

Can you upload your problem document so we can try and find the problem?

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
The link I posted on how to upload a document tells you that you must use Post Reply, not Quick Reply, to access the document upload feature.
You have already uploaded a screenshot of your document; what I am suggesting you upload is the actual Writer document itself so we can examine it - the screenshot only shows the problem, not the cause.
Imagine that your car runs poorly; you would take the car to the auto technician, not show him/her a picture of your car

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
Yes like that, however, when I open your document, I get a single line, on the 4th line of the page, in Times New Roman font size 12
This is a standard font style and size for most documents. It is the equivalent to 1/6" per character.
The document I have attached has the font set at 72 points (6x what your document came in at) and it prints on my HP with no problem.

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
My printer prints WordPad fine, it prints all my photos fine, all downloads fine. It will not print any OO doc new or old, it just seems to not recognize that printing command, no matter what the text or the font is. Changing the doc font doesnt matter, it doesnt print.

(There is not increased fonts in your (first) attached document. All of the visible characters and the empty lines have Times New Roman 12 property.)

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
Note that in the original screenshot, the page dimensions are shown as 0.0" x 0.0". On my computers the page size is assigned to US Letter.

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
I increased the font in the normal way, type the material, highlight it, select the font, then print failed. Yes I noticed that O.O by O.O--dont think it was that way before, is there a setting that addresses that?
Here is current no printing sample:

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
In your document, use /Format /Page : Page tab to select a paper size (usually A4 or US Letter) and then try a print.

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
US not an option in the drop down menu. A4 selected does not work (nor Letter which I tried) and the preview remains O.O X O.O

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
Letter and US Letter are the same.
Try one of the attached files: one is A4, the other Letter.

Delete your OO user profile
As you are using Windows do this by:
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Delete or Rename the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.

Sounds like you used INTERNET Explorer. You have to use FILE Explorer. INTERNET Explorer is for the Internet. FILE Explorer is for files on your system.madeliner wrote:Sorry I couldnt execute yr instructions (couldnt find Quick starter; the copy/paste takes me to the web. You have to paste in the Address bar to the left of the Search box where it says "Quick Access". Your screen shot shows that you pasted in the Search box. That should have just produced a message "No items match your search". I have no idea why it would take you to the Web.

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
What worries me is that the print display is (on all screen shots) showing the page size as 0.0" x 0.0"; I haven't immediate access to a Windows machine, but should there not be a Properties button on that page that allows access to low level printer configuration settings?

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
On the right hand side of your screenshot, you have a Properties window.
At the bottom of that window is an expansion item entitled Page
What do you see if you expand that section?

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
I do have a button, marked Properties, that allows me access to that level of configuration, however the button I'm referring to is not shown in any of the OP's screenshots.RoryOF wrote:What worries me is that the print display is (on all screen shots) showing the page size as 0.0" x 0.0"; I haven't immediate access to a Windows machine, but should there not be a Properties button on that page that allows access to low level printer configuration settings?
An alternative, I think, might be in the Page section of the Properties window (as shown in the OP's latest screenshot).
I'm awaiting a reply as my system has a different configuration.

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
My thoughts are that the printer is nor correctly installed.
What I would do (you might decide differently) is I'd unplug the printer cable; I'd boot Windows, use Control Panel to delete the existing Printer installation. Then I'd shut down Windows, replug the printer cable (ensure Printer is turned on) and restart Windows; it should now detect the printer and install it. Once again, shut down Windows, then restart it and see if the page dimension is correctly shown in the OO print dialog (and the Properties button, which should be at the right side of the Printer selection window, in line with the word "Details".

Re: Increased Font now printer wont print any OO docs
On the Print dialog try changing the printer temporarily to "Microsoft Print to PDF". Do the dimensions change on the preview?

Based on the information I now have, I will concur with Rory's suggestion of reinstalling the printer at the system level.
