[Solved] Unexpected Download Result

Post by Randol »

I just loaded OpenOffice to use it for some books that I am currently working on. I notice that most of my Microsoft Word documents have been converted to OpenOffice. I need to keep most of those files in Word because I often share them with others. Is there a way to undo this? Shouldn't I be able to choose which files to convert to OpenOffice?

The files have not been converted in any way. Merely their icon has been changed to show that the default program to open them has now been set to be Openoffice. If you still wish MS Word (etc) to open them, change the file associations back to MS Word. See
[Tutorial] Setting the default program for MS Office formats
for details on how to do this.

. . . and help you certainly did! I couldn't follow the Tutorial to change the file associations, however, your explanation gave me enough understanding to figure out another way to do. I did [Start - Default Programs - Associate a file type or protocol with a program] and made the needed change there. Thank you!
