OpenOffice won't install

Post by geritoljunky »

I am a novice, don't understand all the jargon, however, I need help in installing Apache Open office 4.1.3, the operating system is Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1. It begins to install, then a window comes up that says "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it. Or contact the application vendor or verify that this is a valid Windows installation package". Help, what do I do from here?????

Did you download from http://www.openoffice.org/download/? This is the official site and any other may be suspect.

Have you tried to check the MD5 sum (link in the light green box under the download field)?

Right-click on the installer, and select "Run as Administrator". What you're describing sounds like a permissions issue that this should resolve.
