[Solved] Problems Installing and Opening AOO on Windows 10

Due to some errors, I had to install Windows 10 from scratch, and it wiped all my programs out. In an attempt to reinstall AOO 4.1.1, it took me about five times to get it to install without the installer freezing on me. But now that it's installed, on the rare occasion when the splash screen doesn't freeze, all I get is a white window with nothing in it, and that immediately freezes. I've tried all the compatibility settings that there are but none of them work. I've tried changing the user profile but that doesn't work. I've tried just opening AOO through the feature that I want but that doesn't work, and I've tried just opening an ODT file, but that doesn't work either. LibraOffice 4.4.5 is doing the same thing. Can anyone please help me?

Is Windows indexing your files? When Windows is installed from scratch, user files need to be re-indexed. If indexing is in progress, wait until it finishes or open Indexing Options in the Control panel and pause indexing.

I just checked and it's not indexing, so I tried it again and still the same problems.

I think my problem is coming from installing onto Windows 10 instead of upgrading to Windows 10 while already installed. Any installation I've tried of AOO and LibraOffice on Windows 10 has resulted in the same problem.

Downgraded to AOO 3.4.1 and had the same problems until I renamed the user profile to user.old and then it worked. But 4.1.1 is still not working for me.

I have installed W10 & due to a "problems upgrading to W10" message had to do a reinstall & now all my apps inc AOO are in a folder of "Deleted Applications", some I can open & reuse but mostly not able to do so, AOO being one not able to open again, I have downloaded AOO 4.1.1 again but all my past history etc is obviously not available --- Help Please !

You should go to a Windows 10 forum for advice. There are very few users here with any experience with Windows 10 and I've never reinstalled it so I don't know if there's any way to recover the saved documents. The usual advice is to backup data files externally before upgrading or reinstalling an operating system, then restore the files from the backup if necessary. While upgrading should preserve data files, reinstalling typically does not.

Rebooted the computer and I'm back to the same problem with AOO 3.4.1 as I had with AOO 4.1.1. Freezes on the splash screen, and if it gets past it, freezes in a completely white window where the menus should be. Changing the user profile doesn't work. Anyone able to help me? I really need to get this to work.

Tried installing AOO 4.1.1 again. It hangs on Removing Shortcuts. AOO 3.4.1 isn't working for me anymore either. Can someone please help me? I need this program for work.

Since you're having multiple problems, your system may have some mechanical problem (memory, hard drive, loose connections, etc) or corrupt system files. A Windows 10 forum is the place for finding about troubleshooting your system. You can also use Google to search for problems others may be having with the same model of computer and Windows 10. You may also find videos with troubleshooting tips on YouTube.

My system has no mechanical problems. I have inquired on a Windows 10 forum with no response. Google brings me back to this forum. Nice to know this forum is so unhelpful.

Sorry you feel that way, but without any error message or more specific information, general suggestions is all I can offer. I don't experience the problems on my system that you describe, so I can't tell you specifically what's causing the problem or how to fix it.

I got 4.1.1 to install by using Revo, then rebooted, deleted the user profile folder before opening 4.1.1 and it's working.
