I just installed Apache OO 3.4 and am shut out. I get a JRE error box that won't close. Running Win Vista 32 home premium. I never had this problem with any version, .9 on.

Split from initial topic about AOO 3.4.0 release (Hagar, Moderator).

Also, if I don't get a fix real soon, I'm uninstalling 3.4 and going back to 3.3. I live in Open Office.

What version of Java do you have? Java 7 does not work properly use java 6 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ ... 37595.html. V3.4.1 is due out at the end of July.

Okay, I installed Java 6. I restarted my computer; then opened an OOo file. I got the same <Select JRE> error box:

<<The OpenOffice.org configuration has been changed. Under Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - Java, select the Java runtime environment you want to have used by OpenOffice.org.>>

Can't close the error box. I have to use the task manager to close it and I can't access OpenOffice.org without the error box.

I am going to re-install version 3.4. If it doesn't work, I will uninstall and reinstall 3.3.

Okay, that didn't work. I ran the installation program (restore). Still have the same problems. I'm uninstalling 3.4 now.

Did you read the bug report and try the suggestion given there?

The JRE error said to go to options and select a Java, but the error box froze OOo so that was not possible. I did install Java 6 but it didn't help. The only thing I could do was uninstall 3.4 and go back to 3.3.

Am I the only person to have this problem?

The bug report suggests deleting a configuration file. You do that in Windows Explorer, not in AOO. AOO should be shut down completely when deleting the file.
