[Solved] Error 1935 - during install

Hi,

Could really use some help here. No idea what's going on but it's pretty bad! Bear with me....

I uninstalled JALBUM today but the uninstall took forever (over an hour) and I had to reset the PC. After the reboot I discovered that none of my OO documents were showing the icons and worse, the entire OO folder had gone! Panic aside I downloaded the OO file (OOo_3.2.1_Win_x86_install-wJRE_en-GB) and ran the install.

This not only grabbed 100% of my 8Gb memory and appeared to hang but also took an hour plus before it failed at the last stage of 'publishing product information' see screen grab.

I've since performed a system restore and tried the OO install but got the same error.

So, what do you reckon?

Vista Premium 64bit; AMD Phenom IIx4 945 Processor 3.00Ghz; 8.0Gb RAM

Thanks for that and apologies for not digging deeper before posting - it was late and had been a bad day!

I followed the steps in http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... hilit=1935 and the install eventually worked. But I am left with two questions:-

1. How and what do I do to change back the settings I have changed on mscoree.dll?

2. The installation took 1hr 12mins with a great deal of apparent inactivity and several instances where 100% memory was used. For the inexperienced I would imagine most users would assume a hang and re-boot thinking the system was dead. Previous installs of OO never took anywhere near that long, so what's changed and why so long?

1. No idea, I only use MS at work now so I don't do any of such maintenance for my own. You can ask in the other thread for information.
2. There is indeed a problem. There may be something interfering, perhaps a firewall or anti-virus or a MS update.
