Can't open an OpenOffice.org document

I have Windows 7 and have downloaded OpenOffice OOo 3.2.1 and OpenOffice 3.2.

I cannot open the prior OpenOffice files I have created. When I try to open a document, I get the message "The requested operation requires elevation."

What the heck does that mean, and how can I open the documents?
