Loss of Spell Check when upgrading to 2.3

I recently upgraded to 2.3 and since then have lost both the automatic & manual spell check facility.
This has occurred with my PC on a Windows XP system.
I also have 2.3 on my lap top which is powered by Ubuntu and again there is no spell check activated.
What do I do to get this back.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Try to copy all files from the old OOo location (...\Openoffice.org 2.2\dict\ooo\) to a new one (...\Openoffice.org 2.3\dict\ooo\).
