Add shortcut to AOO on my Google page
I’m trying to add OO as a short cut on my Google home page. Using URL https://www.OpenOffice.org and it takes me to Download - I’ve already downloaded it! I just want a shortcut! Have already checked the FAQ for over an hour, and cannot find any info. Using Windows 10. It seems like it should be SO simple!
OpenOffice 4.1 Windows 10
Re: OpenOffice
Let's take a step back. Why do you want a link to http://www.openoffice.org? OpenOffice is not an online application; you use it on your local system. After downloading the installation file, you have to run that and then start OpenOffice.
Does that help you move towards your goal? If not, please explain what you are trying to accomplish with the link.

Re: OpenOffice
Any link would have to point to an executable version (i.e., an installed version) of OpenOffice; a link on your computer would point to soffice.exe, or to the individual applications, such as swriter.exe (etc); where these might be on your computer I cannot say with certainty.
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.15 on Xubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Re: OpenOffice
The link posted is the URL of the Apache OpenOffice home page (not Download--the link to Download is on the AOO home page). Clicking that link is supposed to open the AOO home page in your Web Browser. Are you expecting something different to happen?
Are you adding the shortcut in Chrome?

My guess is he want's to start AOO from a Webbrowser.

But to start a program (now called app) is completely different from displaying text, therefore you need another protocol file: instead of http: and obviously you have to point to the right location, wich is the executable file on your computer, not where the file was composed.
(Sending the keys of your car to the shop where you bought it usually will nor start the engine...)
So you will need a similiar link to the example in the stackoverflow question:
