[Solved] JRE error message opening .odb files

Post by Tikatu2 »

Hey, y'all.

I just switched computers and when I try to open my database files, I get this JRE error message:
Open Office requires a Java runtime environment(JRE) to perform this task. Please install a JRE and restart OpenOffice.
So, cool. I download the JRE for offline.

No joy. Still get the error message. I read through some of the forum topics and find one with a similar problem. Okay, restart OpenOffice.

Cool. I do that. Still no joy. I can open my .odt files no problem. But not my .odb.

Any suggestions? I'm running OO 4.1.10 on Windows 10.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

You need to download the 32bit version of Java because AOO is a 32bit application only.
See for example: [Solved] AOO 4.1.9 Only Recognizes 32Bit Java.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the *EDIT button if your issue has been fixed.

Just wanted to say thanks, that solved my problem perfectly with Base. I had just updated and then it didn't work. Gave the JRE needs install, went install 64 bit and no-go. After reading this, went back installed 32bit version and its working now. Thank you.
