[Solved] Open Office 4.1.9. Block me saving as unlicensed

Hi

I’ve just installed Open Office 4.1.9 on my new Windows 10 laptop.

I can use open office and I’ve saved a spreadsheet but when I now try to alter or update this I get a Microsoft 365 add pops up saying I’m unlicensed.

Do anyone know what this is and what I can do about it?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Try to reset the file association to AOO for your file type (be it .xls or .ods). See [Tutorial] Setting the default program to open files.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the *EDIT button if your issue has been fixed.

Thanks for your reply.

I’ve followed the tutorial and got as far as ‘Set defaults by app’. But I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do from here.

Sorry struggling a bit here

Try to right click your file in the Windows Explorer and select "Open with". Then select AOO.

I’ve pressed right click on the spreadsheet document and selected ‘open with’,

The 4 options I get are Excel, OpenOffice Calc, Search the Microsoft store and choose another app.

I’m guessing I’m clicking the wrong thing?

The option you want, for a spreadsheet, is OpenOffice Calc.
If it was a Word processing document (eg: letter or resume), then you would be looking for OpenOffice Writer.
