[Solved] I see no Java 32-bit option

Post by OldCopperTop »

Edit: Split from AOO not recognizing latest version of JRE

I had to reset Windows and reinstall Open Office and Java, but see no Java 32-bit option. I downloaded two different Java versions (both are 8.0.3110.11), one says 64-bit. Neither contains a a valid JRE according to OpenOffice.

On this page https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp choose the Windows Online or Windows Offline not the third choice which is 64bit.

Those are the two versions that I installed. Also, does it matter if OpenOffice and Java are on different drives?

I don't know what clues are unclear (possibly Windows or the Java installer is issuing messages), but I can assure you that you need the 32-bit version.

My tip is not to use the latest JRE version. I would like to recommend JRE 1.7.0_71, download here:
https://www.oracle.com/java/technologie ... loads.html
see: "Java SE Runtime Environment 7u71".

Thanks. I finally was able to open my database again. I had to download the Windows x86 Offline version to get one that worked.
