OpenOffice requires Java runtime environment (JRE)

Post by nebulousram »

I have jre1.8.0_161 and the database tool under OpenOffice 4.1 still doesn't work. Could my Java Runtime version be too recent?

You may need to select that Java (one time only) in /Tools /Options /OpenOffice /Java, and possibly restart OpenOffice.

Go to https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Download and install "Windows offline". It is 32-bit software just like OpenOffice for Windows.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

@Villeroy: good catch - I had forgotten about 32 bit Java with 32 bit OpenOffice on Windows
