Problems with manual save of database

Hi All,

Is there anyone experiencing the same thing as me?
I run:
- Ubuntu 16.04
- LO 5.4.0.3
- HSQLDB 2.3.4

When working on a database, I save manually a lot, to be on the safe side.
Lately, LO is hangs frequently when doing so.
Save can be pressed, and stays pressed, screen greys out, and that is it.
The only way to continue is to 'X' the program (top bar, left button). Choice is either Wait or Force Quit. Wait does not do anything, but Force Quit will close all.
Now the program is closed, but incorrectly, so there will be document recovery needed.

Did not change anything for a while, so what could be the issue?
Any thoughts?

It appears that my Encryption program (VeraCrypt) is causing this issue once a while.

Same versions of same software here, except VeraCrypt which I don't have installed. I used to know this problem with LO 5.3 but since I installed LO5.4 the problem did not occur anymore.
What makes you think that VeraCrypt has something to do with it?

I am running LO5.4 and VeraCrypt1.21. You made me re-assess the issue. As far as I know, the moment it happens, I close and open VeraCrypt, and I am OK. However, today, I had to shutdown the computer, and reboot, to solve it.
There is therefore more going on, by the looks of it.
