Where do I get Base?

I've already downloaded Open Office (latest version) but i don't see BASE listed as one of the programs. How do i download Base?

In any application: File - New - Database

Check the 'sbase.exe' file in the program directory.

http://www.openoffice.org/download/ (redirects to sourceforge.net) is the only legitimate source. If you download from there and run the installation routine without de-selecting the Base component, then you get a full office suite including Base.
Base does not depend entirely on Java but for most types of databases you need a 32-bit Java runtime even if you run a 64-bit system: https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp (Windows offline 55 MB).

How do i download Base?
The installer file of the Apache OpenOffice (and the installer file of the LibreOffice) contains the Base application. Where you downloaded the installer file from?
How you installed it? (With default settings or with custom installation?)

i got it from sourceforge, but I may have done custom installation, leaving that out...so do i just reinstall it and do the full install?

Re-run the installer and choose the repair/customize option.
