Hello,
I am fairly new to Libre Office but I am learning quickly. I am making a database to make it easier to keep track of parts. The parts have a unique #, a bunch of data. I am looking to do two things:
#1. I know how to make a form so that there is a user friendly way of letting someone else input data and then have it inputted into the database. However, sometimes the data is given to us in excel format in a spreadsheet which follows a template. Is there some way on the form to allow someone to just select the excel file, and then the computer will read the excel file and input the data into the database based on the headers in the excel file?
#2. Can forms be designed so that the user can include an image?
Thank you!

Re: Feed Excel Spreadsheet into Database
#1) In Base start the Database Wizard (starts automatically for me when starting with no file), select Connect to an existing database, in the dropdown box select Spreadsheet, follow the rest of the dialog prompts (responses are system specific)
#2) I believe that images can be used as part of a database, but I've not had a need for this ability so I don't know how to do it.

Re: Feed Excel Spreadsheet into Database
Do NOT connect to the existing spreadsheet.
Create a new emtpy database.
Store picture file names in a text field but NOT the pictures.
Link a form's picture control to the text field with the picture file names.
