So, I created a simple database - just a list of SKUs with some inventory identifiers. Was entering directly into the table, saving as I went along. Windows does updates overnight, restarts my computer, I recover all my OpenOffice projects that were still open - documents, spreadsheets, and this one database.
Fast forward a few days, I open the database - nothing is there. No table at all.
I've tried everything I know, updated OpenOffice from 4.1.2 to 4.1.3, restarted my system a couple of times updating various other programs.
Is my work gone for good?
Everything disappeared?

Re: Everything disappeared?
That is a common problem when using an Embedded database.
First try View->Refresh Tables. It's a long shot but you might get lucky.
If not, check to see if there was a recent backup saved. Go to Tools->Options->Paths and look for the directory where Backups will be stored. Maybe you will find a recent backup in that directory.
If that fails there is a procedure for attempting to recover your data
