Form size

Post by RayM »

Having finally got a working database, with a beautiful layout, it's annoying that, everytime I reload the form, I have to resize the form. It's perfect in design mode, but in run mode the edges always have to be dragged out to be able to see everything.

Where do I set the form size, so that it always opens the correct size?

Make adjustments to the desired size in the Design Mode.
Save the Form.

I've obviously tried that, but it reverts to the original size when I run it.

I'm obviously doing it wrong. Humour me .... How, exactly, do you make adjustments to the desired size?

Hello
rightclick the form in Base main window, section Forms -> Edit
  • If displayed, switch of the rulers vie menue View
  • Adjust the size of the form window as you like
  • Save the form via menue File/Save
  • Close the form
  • reopen it by doubleclick
  • MMove 1.0.6
  • Extension for easy, exact positioning of shapes, pictures, controls, frames ...
  • my current system

That's exactly what I've been doing. ..... I've just done it again, to be sure.

No, when I double click the form to open it, it returns to the pre-edited size.

Very frustrating.

Sorry,
but then i can't help, seams to be a problem of Neo-Office on Mac.
Maybe OpenOffice, downloaded from the official Website, has another behaviour.

Hang on .... still fighting with this.......

Can you elaborate on "Adjust the size of the form window as you like".

I think that's the bit I'm getting wrong.

We crossed there.

No, for some reason, OpenOffice won't run on my Mac. Neither does LibreOffice. That's the reason why I had to pay for the Neo-Office version.

Sorry, I know I'm being stupid, but that makes no sense at all.

"Adjust the size of the form window as you like".
I'm sure that is what you have been doing. Dragging the window boundaries so that it shows all of your form that you want to see. When you make those modifications in the Design mode and Save the form it should save the size of the window.
When a Base form is opened, by default it is centered on the screen, but it shouldn't resize.
I suspect that may be a feature of NeoOffice.
Check to see if Writer documents exhibit the same behavior. If they retain their position and size then saving your current database Form as standalone Writer document might be a solution. A tutorial for that is at
viewtopic.php?f=83&t=40493

In the worst case it could probably be done with macros, but that is a whole other can of worms.
