[Solved] After a while, Base shuts down
[Solved] After a while, Base shuts down
I am having a similar problem. I'm running a base program with version 4.1.2 on windows 10. It all worked for a while and then after some mail merge operations in writer with the base database as the source, the data base opens but automatically shuts down when it try to access my tables or open forms. I've reverted to 4.1 and that doesn't work either. How can I open the data base? Can I just retrieve my tables?

The issue being discussed on this thread centered around the use of AOO 4.1.2 on Apple products.
Since you are running Windows version 4.1.2 is your best bet. A discussion of possible solutions to your problem can be found at viewtopic.php?f=13&t=81650#p377424

Reverting to 4.1.1 worked for me. Since you were originally able to open your database, it may be that 4.1.2 corrupted it. I had that happen to a database and could not open it.

Thanks for all your responses. I've tried everything buy to no avail. Can just the tables be retrieved, they must be somewhere?

Have you reverted to OO 4.1.1? Does /Help /About show 4.1.1?

Tried it. That doesn't work either.

Please post your OpenOffice Base file ( *.odb ) to this forum ( as an attachment ) . . . or . . . if it is too big ( too many bytes ) a way for us to see the file, using a site like MediaFire.
https://www.mediafire.com/
That way, someone might be able to assist. Since you are using Windows, NOT a Mac, you should NOT have to revert to an older version of OpenOffice ( 4.1.2 should work well ).

Good catch, Sliderule. I had missed that the new poster was using Windows.

When I deleted and created an other user profile it erased all my extensions and such. The last time I did it, it took me a while to return to the configuration I needed it and, in addition, didn't solve my problem. So, I hesitate to do it again.RoryOF: @ A. With OpenOffice closed try renaming "registrymodifications.xcu" in the profile. This will erase your recent files list, but leave your extensions.dictionaries etc installed. If you find other stuff erased, simply rename that file back to registrymodifications.xcu but the problem may reappear in that case.

Ciao, A.Feit.
Opening your database should crash AOO 4.1.1, OOo 3.3.0, LO 4.3.7 and NeoOffice 3.4.1 (all Mac OS X 10.7.5 versions).

A.Feit :
I was able to repair the file ( *.odb ) , and, open it with OpenOffice 4.1.2 .
The file size is now much smaller, but, too large for this forum to allow me to post it here.
Please tell me where you want me to post it . . . via email ( if so, PM - Private Message - me with your email ) or, to mediafire like you did ?
