CVS customer list files in WIN98 system

Post by RONALD BOSCHELLI »

We have a WIN98 POS system, which has been replaced by an XP system. The customer list inthe 98 system are in CVS format. Which we want to convert to Excel files to import into Avery label program on the same 98 machine. We have just installed "OpalOffice" on the same 98 machine.

Having no previous experience with MS Office not to sure where to start. Have looked at the help files in OpalOffice need some pointers of where to look.

Thanks for the assistance.

Sorry but you post is a little terse. I am assuming that you maintain your customer list in an Excel database. If your Point of Sale machine in Windows98, then I assume that your installed Excel is Excel 97 or Excel 2000. Anyway, Calc will be able to open and to save in this format fine. You can also save as ODS (the native Open Document format) if you want. You can also save individual sheets to CSV (I assume that you meant Comma Separated Variable here, but if not you'll need to explain what CVS means in this context) throught he File-> Save As menu.

Is this what you are looking for?
Ubuntu 11.04-x64 + LibreOffice 3 and MS free except the boss's Notebook which runs XP + OOo 3.3.

Terry:

Was not trying to be terse, just brief.

The old POS 98 WIN machine the customer files are in CVS ( comma delimited)
format. Need to get them into Excel format so we can import them into the Avery label program on the same machine.

Once we accomplish this will also import them into our Win XP POS system.

Thanks,

Ron

Start OpenOffice.org - any module will do.
Select Open File
Open your cvs file, it will start an import wizard and open this into Calc-
Save As and change the file type to xls

In other words OpenOffice.org will do just this function for you, just as well as MS Office would.

It is very simple really.
