If you gonna test any way. Can you test by deinstalling jre 1.6.0_18 and than install directly an other version of java from JRE1.6.0_14 I've this one also on my machine with OOo 3.2.

BTW
I never take the OOo with jre install because I want to control my java versions by hand (Like to install and run the JDK)

Workaround....

This works in windows

Shutdown OpenOffice and Quickstarter

Install JRE 1.6.0_16

delete javasettings <environment>.xml from user config directory

restart OpenOffice

Use Tools>Options>Java to select JRE 1.6.0_16

then it seems to be OK.....

I posted this yesterday (17/2 but it seems to have gone AWOl....)

The workaround I used to 'fix' this was

Close OpenOffice and Quickstarter

Dowload java jre 1.6.0_16

manually install jre so both versions available

delete javasettings_windows_X86.xml from the user\config directory (the filename depends on the environment)

Restart OpenOffice

use tools>options>java to select 1.6.0_16

and it seems to work!

I got around this problem by simply moving the OpenOffice.org/3/user folder to another area of the disk.

JRE 1.6.0_19
OO 3.2.0

As suggested before, I solved this annoying, recurring problem by activating JRE. Go to Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org|Java. Click on "Use a Java runtime environment". Click on the round dot (it will show a green dot in the center) before "Sun Microsystems Inc.". Then close and re-open OpenOffice, to activate JRE. The Help Menu should work now.

If you don't see an installed JRE, the download and install it from the Java website.

Good luck. - mike

I am having the same problem, but with an OSX 10.6.4 system. If a solution for the iMac has been posted, would someone please direct me to it? If not, can someone tell me how to fix it? I've gone to Apps > Utilities >Java Preferences, where I see 32-bit and 64-bit versions installed. I rearranged their order of preference, but that had no effect. The 32-bit Java SE 6, Vendor = Apple Inc., Version 1.6.0_22-b04-302 is, by default, listed first. I'm attaching a screen shot.

Thank you
