Out of memory error
Out of memory error
I have a data base that I try to open and I get thebelow error. This database doesn't include any pictures all text. I can't tell if its a computer error or a software error. Any Ideas to try and fix it? I am running Open Office 2.3 in Windows XP with 512 MB ram.
Re: Out of memory error
And if you press the "More" button, what do you get?
Also, if possible, try updating to OOo 2.4.1 (to stay in the OOo 2 branch) or even better, to OOo 3.1.

Re: Out of memory error
If I switch to 3.1 will I be able to open the same data base I made in 2.3?
This is what I get when I press more:

Re: Out of memory error
Yes you should have no compatibility issues. but note that you install 3.1 to run alongside an existing version of Ooo if you want to play things doubly-safe, and open copies of your old databases.leo1 wrote:If I switch to 3.1 will I be able to open the same data base I made in 2.3?

Hello
I do assume that this database did run without errors before you get this error.
What did you change?
Make a copy of your database before you can corrupt it.
When you make your copy you can see how big is your file.

Re: Out of memory error
The file is 206 KB. The only thing I did was add a few entries to it like I do every week.
Re: Out of memory error
I just installed Open Office 3.1 and tried to open the data base and got the same error. It must be something in the data base that is incorrect. Any ideas?

Hello
I don't know a solution. I did have search on the other forum on your error code and did find this link.
They all say that something can be wrong with your script file.

Re: Out of memory error
How do you change the script? Last time I opened the file all I did was add a few entries. I'm not sure how this could have happened.

Hello
I understand your database does not open, and you can not list the tables. I did search for that kind of error and the list I found is post here. By quick reading they point to an error in your script. How I don't know. Before you are doing a lot read the links. try to unzip your database. maybe you have to rename your file to database.zip.
On this moment I cannot do much for you. One of the reason is I go to bed. Maybe you read something and other people can help you. Other wise to morrow I can tell maybe more if you unzip your file. But be careful give no personal information on this forum
I hope this helps you a little

Re: Out of memory error
I can't open them but I can edit them it seems so far. The one main item I update all my information is a form called BizContacts here:
Re: Out of memory error
Hello
It is not clear to me if you can read your tables? I understand you can read your form.
Forms
You can see and edit the forms. That is nice for, that means that your database.odb file is not complete corrupt.
Tables
The script file who is for your database is also in your database.odb file. If you can see the tables and list the table then it is nice. You have no problem with your script. If you can edit the records in your table then you can be happy.
tables or forms
If you can read and edit your tables then you must have an error in your form.
Database.odb
This file contains always your forms queries and reports. Most of the time it also contains your tables. It is one file. It is also a zip file when you unzip this file then you can see the forms, reports, queries and possible the files for your HSQLDB database.
Error in script
If you have an error in your script then you can correct the error and zip again the files to a database.odb file.

Hi,
I've embedded your screenshots in your posts, it will avoid the link (to imageshack) to be broken in the future. It insures the data are safe and the thread still readable in the future. Thanks to save as .png also, it's a better format for screenshots and to crop the pics to focus on the interesting part.

Re: Out of memory error
Hello
You can show the table record names.
If you click on your tables can you see what you have typed?
you have two tables can you see both? yes or no is enough
You cannot edit your table with your form, But can you edit your table direct? Not the field names but the data
If you can edit the records in your table: delete those records who you have added. But make a copy before you do it. A copy from the complete database.
I try to understand what can be the reason why you get those error.
Trying to change the script is maybe to early special If you can read your table direct. I did get that idea from the first search action. I have change my mind.
How to change the script?
Your database does have a name who is ending on .odb. If you change the name on .zip then you can unzip your database in different files. Sometime there must be changed something what makes the error. But before you can change you have to knew what must be changed and on this moment I have no idea.
The script file is a part from your database. It also the of your field names in your database. The records are also there but you can not read them.

Hello
I did search with Google, I add all the words of the error in the search
"SQL Status: S1000" "Error code: 72"
I did get also this link

It was also in the post with the four link I send to I hope you read them. I think the information Sliderule give you is important. You can have the same problem.

Sliderule seems to be refering to Queries. I am not a Base expert by any means, but how does the queries affect my Form?
Re: Out of memory error
May be some of your listbox or combo box filled with query.
Try to open your database when other programs not running, Firefox and Thunderbird require lot of memory when open.
Your memeory 512MB not so much to running FF needs 100MB.

So I'm having the same problem, but considering oooforum.org doesnt seem to be functional, this thread doesnt seem like its necessarily closed. Is there a backup of the information on oooforum.org anywhere?

Re: Out of memory error
Very old thread but I had the same error today and found the solution in my case. Maybe it helps somebody reading this good thread.
Error: Happened when I wanted to enter records in tables I created yesterday. Checking the tables I found that in one field the field-lenght was 234567890. This overpowered my machine.
Solution: Set the field-lenght to 60 and the error was gone
