Since the hsqldb.jar file presumes JRE11 which is only available in 64 bit, it appears that AOO users will need to use hsqldb-jdk8.jar renamed to hsqldb.jar

Not true since I have downloaded and use a Java Version that is 32 bit java.version: (15.0.2). And, while I use LibreOffice ( 32 bit ) 99% of the time, it ( HSQL and my Java Version ) both run well with the OpenOffice as well.

Thanks. I that there are versions of JRE available from somewhere other than Oracle.

I use binaries from Prebuilt OpenJDK Binaries.
