How to make a bracket?

Post by Gregor »

Hello! I am taking an Advanced Functions and Modeling course which makes use of OpenOffice.org Math, but I can't figure out how to enter in number 5 on this worksheet. I can't figure out how to make it a single bracket as well as having a space in the bracket.

This is fairly close:
f(x) = left lbrace
 matrix {
   2{x} # if x < 1 ##
   x+1  # if x >= 1
 }
right none

Try (for example)

left lbrace stack {2x+3y=8#3x+2y=7} right none

The braces {} are used for grouping - look at the difference between a^b+c and a^{b+c}.
