[Solved] Unwanted font shadow

Post by davidlaing »

I'm creating a book cover, and the text is shadowed, which I don't want. I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of the shadow and consulted the online manual, but haven't succeeded. Can you please tell me what I have to do to eliminate the shadow? Tx.

Please upload your example .odg file and a screenshot here.

What format properties and paragraph/character styles had you used?

I can find no provision "here" for uploading screenshots or their files. Can you please tell me how this is done?

Click on the "Post reply" (not the Quick reply) - Click on the "Upload Attachment" TAB below the message edit window.

The file size limit is 128 KiB. You can link the larger files from a free file sharing service (like the Google Drive) here.

The file is too big to upload, and I don't know how to use Google Drive or other similar services. Also, I tried selecting, copying, and pasting the file, but got nothing. Is there some other way we can do this?

Can you copy/paste a small bit of the text that has the problem into a new drawing, and attach that here?

Apparently not. I just tried to copy and paste a selection, but it didn't work.

I just tried to copy and paste a selection, but it didn't work.
You can not paste the selected text object into the post edit window of the forum directly. You must paste it into a new, empty .odg file. and save it.

The texts are labeled graphic objects in the AOO/LO Draw application.
Just click on the problematic object. It will be selected.
Then hit Ctrl-C, or click on the menu item "Edit - Copy".
Then hit Ctrl-N or "File - New - Drawing". A new, empty drawing file will be created.
Then use the Ctrl-V or "Edit - Paste". The object will be pasted into the new file.
Save it, and please upload here. That .odg file (containing only one object) will not exceed the 128 KiB limit.

The text frame has "area shadow" enabled, and that shadow seems to propagate to text content.
  • Menu item Format - Area
  • Select Shadow tab
  • Untick Use shadow
  • OK

Thank you, Keme from Norway. This is exactly what I needed to know, very clear, concise, and it works! Good job!
