Force connectors vertical/horizontal?

I've used OO Draw heavily, but am now finding that I cannot force connector lines to be horizontal or vertical.
On a Mac, with AOO411m6(Build:9775) - Rev. 1617669, and here's a sample file.

Yeah, this is a built-in limitation as far as I know. It seems that the only constraint on a connector is a glue point.

As a workaround, you can add temporary "guide" objects to provide a glue point, then delete the guide object.
