I was editing along nicely, climbing the short learning curve, when suddenly every object got locked up and I can't do anything.
Attached is last .odg saved -- can add/edit new objects, but can't do a thing with what's already there.
Anybody have an idea what I did so I can avoid it next time?
Thanks,

Re: Objects locked - can't select or edit
All the objects now are on the master slide. Click on the menu View > Master, then click anywhere on the slide, select the menu Edit > Select All, Cut, go back to the normal view (menu View > Normal), then Paste. All your objects will be back to a normal page. How did this happen, I don't know...

Re: Objects locked - can't select or edit
Well, that certainly did the trick: I have my objects back & workable.
But I did not intentionally take steps to move all my stuff to the Master (similar to Background in MSPub); given the cumbersome process it took to back it out, I'd have remembered doing it.
Now why should Master not just be a separate, tabbable layer beats me.
Thanks for the tip!

Could it be a shortcut typed by error?

I couldn't agree more. Why they implemented the current separate mode, with all the back and forth rigamarole, is a mystery to me, except "that's the way Powerpoint works."Now why should Master not just be a separate, tabbable layer beats me.

That one may be for you: Issue 56411 - Request - master pane on right side, right click menu.

Re: Objects locked - can't select or edit
Interesting--thanks, Hagar.
I did think of one reason you can't simply click a tab to switch in & out of master view: you can have multiple master slides for one presentation. It would be ok with one or two masters, but not so great with a dozen. Of course, that would be pretty unusual.
Actually, now that I think about it, I'll bet that the OOo UI toolkit doesn't support changing the number of tabs dynamically.

Re: Objects locked - can't select or edit
Just wanted to say thanks! I had a floor plan all laid out with some added elements I wanted to move around, but couldn't do anything to the existing elements. All is fine now!\
Thanks bunches!!
