[Solved] How to simply cut off a part of a picture?

How to simply cut off a part of a picture?

I was looking for some kind of graphical selection tool and delete it.
Where is it?

When you select an image, the toolbar just above the drawing area should change to display the "Picture" toolbar. Near the right side of that toolbar is the "Crop Picture" button--the icon shows some scissors. Click that, and you'll get "handles" around the edge of the image. Click on any handle and drag it to clip off parts of the image.

This is a newer feature--I can't remember if it's in OOo 2.3 or not. If you don't see it, you may need to upgrade, or use the older cropping function that does not involve the mouse.

Thank you Acknak,

However I still cannot manage to cut of a part off an image.
Under "edit" I see the scissor and I can resize the image but no way to
select anything just to cut off.
Really don't understand why such a basic option it is missing or hidden.
BTW I have version 3!

Something doesn't sound right--like we're talking about two different things.

Does this help?

Acknak
You are a great help, I finally found it.
I selected the scissor above and all I could do was compressing
my picture
Thanks a lot!

I'm having the same trouble. When I click on the scissors it cuts/removes the entire image. Then I click on Edit > Undo: Cut Metafile

I have an image with numerous labels on it and I want to select just one. Can't figure out how to do that. I can do a screencast if that will help.

It sounds like you're using the "Cut to clipboard" button, not the "Crop image" button. Both buttons (on my system) use a scissors icon. Very confusing.

Note that you can only crop an image-type object. You can tell what type of object is selected by looking at the status bar at the bottom left of the OO Draw window, or by looking for the Picture toolbar to appear/disappear when the object is selected/de-selected. The crop button is only available on the Picture toolbar.

Notice in the screen capture image I posted above, there are two buttons with scissor icons: one near the top (Cut) and one just above the editing area (Crop).

mine is a .eps file. Maybe that's why I don't see the image editing buttons.

I will have to see if I have something to convert it with.
