Editing text strings in draw
I need to select individual characters in a string I put in a drawing to make them affixes.

What do you mean by making them "affixes" ?

I mean superscript. I can see the command to do that if only I can select which character to do it to.

You should get full editing capabilities if you double-click on the text object.
Alternatively, select the text object and press F2.
If neither of those seem to work, the text object is likely part of a group, and you'll need to select the group, right-click and choose "Enter group", or get out the sledgehammer and just Ungroup the group.
