The download page http://www.openoffice.org/download/other.html says the Windows version is an MSI file, but what I download is an EXE.
There's a GB English language pack, but no US English one, but the checksum page http://www.openoffice.org/download/chec ... ksums.html only shows a checksum for a US English language pack. I hope this can be fixed.

The MSI file is contained in the EXE, but I will bring the misleading header to webmaster's attention. There is no en-US language pack as there is a complete en-US download available, which is the basic compilation of OpenOffice.
Edit: Later: the misleading header has now been fixed. Thanks for bringing it to attention.

What is meant by the above statement?
I am using OO3.3.0, what advantage would 3.4.1 give?

You downloaded en-US version. It doesn't need an additional en_US language pack. Check your settings under /Tools /Options : Language settings, Languages.

Don't understand this:-

There may still be some few bad links - be patient, they will be rectified as soon as possible.

Also are there any advantages in 3.4.1?

Is it necessary to explicitly say "bad links in the download pages"?

Try it and see.

"Bad links" are clickable links that don't work, because they point to a wrong file, or a non-existent file.

I downloaded OpenOffice 3.4.1 but after I installed it, I get an error message when I try to execute it. I tried downloading the file from 3 different sites but I get the same error. :(

I'm running it on a Mac using OS X 10.8.1. The earlier version ran just fine. All downloads look to be the same. I have admin permission so that isn't the problem.

Never mind. My problem was my Security & Privacy settings which I had to change to "Allow Applications downloaded From -> Anywhere". I was able to run it and then put the setting back to what it was before. It's working fine now.

Thanks....
