I'm not boring anyone with any unnecessary details.
I have a Macbook Pro. I wrote a 20 page paper. My computer froze while it was still open. I restarted my computer. The file reverted to an older version from 4 hours previously even though I manually saved it multiple times and had AutoSave on in 15 minute intervals.
If you use openoffice for anything more then a diary then I suggest you avoid this program. Unless you enjoy getting completely screwed over and losing all of your work.
This has been a bug for literally 6 years. If your not gonna fix it then why do you continue to offer the worthless Autorecovery option thats clearly causing another bug effecting the entire program!
Good luck to those of you attempting to recover your documents 5 years from now as we all know this problem will remain.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Why don't you use latest version (4.0.1)?
Haven't you had the recovery dialog?

Normally when a computer crashes with a file open in OpenOffice, on restarting OpenOffice will offer to recover the open file.
It is most important that you should find out why your computer crashes/freezes. A good operating system should not crash woth any frequency.
