The current version is supported through the release of a new version. For example, a bug in the Mac version of 4.1.8 was found, so 4.1.9 was released to fix that. Any changes to the 4.1.9 version will go into 4.1.10 or 4.2.0. There are no plans to support different versions as far as I know.

FJCC, thnx.
Bill, i saw that, "the Community supports legacy releases for a period of time to allow users to upgrade and migrate". For a period of time - it's a not too accurate.

Neither is the term "The community"

Normally in software/opensource context, "the community" means "whoever will volunteer at a given time". There is no formal commitment, we are only users trying to help users. If you are using v.2.4, I will still be glad to assist (and probably advise an upgrade), regardless of the EoL constraint Apache seems to impose and make the community adhere to. The governing body of Apache may have a different conception of "the community", idk.

The current version 4.1 of AOO was released in 2014 and now we have the 9th bug fix revision of the same release. There is one revision every year with a very small amount of bug fixes. This seems to be the bare minimum for not being kicked out by the Apache foundation. You see that the version support period of AOO is very long because they don't have the resources to finish version 4.2.
------------------------------
Since 2011 (version 3.3) there is an actively developed successor to OpenOffice: https://www.libreoffice.org/discover/li ... penoffice/ which releases a new version every 6 months and bug fixes every few weeks.
Currently version 7.0.5 is the recommended "stable" version (5 bug fixes) and 7.1.2 is the latest release with the most features.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.
