It surprises me that a few spam topics on oooforum, now that spam is no longer removed, appear to get thousands of views in a single day (while the others get more views than I expected). Can some spammers manipulate the view stats in the same way as they manipulate the post count?

Just a guess: They get paid more for posting links that get lots of traffic but whoever's paying doesn't know that all the visits are from bots.
