I have noticed several references to a requirement that people registering with the forum show a software version number.
My question is whether any allowance is made for people who have not yet installed the software. Their reason for registering may indeed be that they need help with downloading and/or installing the software.

Re: Registration requirements (especially version details)
No allowance AFAIK. Usually users put something to allow registration and then they explain (or complain) they had to do so and warn that OOo is not yet installed.
No big issue IMHO.
Perhaps we should create a "to do" topic to list in this forum area all the glitches that should be tackled.

As you say, no big deal. Perhaps they could be asked to show the actual version number or the version number they wish to install.

I thought we set it up so that the entry is free text, where the only thing we look for is the string "office".
If that's the case, it would be accepted to register with "OpenOffice not installed" or some such.
True, we don't advertise that on the registration page.
