[Solved] LibreOffice Writer - SAXParseException

Post by skybell »

Hi,
I have saved my OfficeLibre Writer document as a Microsoft file and when I go to open it I get the following error message
"File format error found at SAXParseException: '[word/document.xml line 2]: Attribute w:eastAsiaTheme redefined
', Stream 'word/document.xml', Line 2, Column 272575(row,col)."
IF anybody would be able to get this document to be able to open again in OfficeLibre that would be fantastic and assist with solving the problem and tell me what went wrong.
Thank you so much, a lot of time has gone into this document.

It would help if you uploaded the file or a link to it on a file-sharing site.

The error message means that the XML tags are corrupted in the document.xml file in the .docx file. The corruption is, or more likely starts, in line 2 at column 272,575. XML files have the entire document as a single, very long line, namely line 2.

The fix Rory has done will have been to find this corruption and fix it.

The same corruption appeared about five times in the file.

The repaired document can't be opened with MS Word viewer.
LibreOffice opens the file.
docx is not an option unless you own a copy of MS Office. Avoid this pestilence of a file format.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

OO (4.1.3 dev version) and AbiWord also opened it, Villeroy. I am not running a copy of MS Word Viewer. I agree with your remarks on .docx
