Turn off full screen presentation?

Post by beoenduser »

Whenever I open a .pps file in Libre Office, it goes full screen. I know that most people like that but I don't. It makes me very nervous. Is there a way to set Libre Office so that the presentation will be in a window rather than a full screen? I was not able to find anything that might suggest I could.

I'm not sure about LibreOffice and .pps files, but normally in OpenOffice an application remembers the last state of the window. If you go to / Slide Show / Slide Show Settings, you should be able to select Type: Default or Window; Default remembers the last state of the display, Window will display in a window. You may have to open a slide show and adjust the window size for this to take.

beoenduser is talking about the ImpressRunner extension that opens a .pps in slideshow directly. It has been integrated in LibO by default. Not sure there is a way to switch it off. Have you searched the options in Impress?

OIC--the direct-to-show function has been built in to LibO. If LibO merely included the extension, it could be disabled through the extension manager.

On the other hand, it is the expected behavior and it's easy to stop the show. I'm not sure exactly what the concern is.

You can turn it off at the file level by renaming the file, of course.

I read it as needing to turn off the automatic presentation which used full screen, but letting it continue in a window.

Just change the file name from *.pps to *.ppt
There are two types of people: those who believe that there are two types of people and those who do not.

What RoryOF said is what I want to do. What RGB said worked.
So, while the .ppt is open in LibreOffice, and if I went to Slide Show > Slide Show settings > Type -- if I selected Windows, would that apply to ALL slide show files from now on, or would that only apply to that particular slide show only?

As far as I know it would apply to all slide shows until you change that setting.
