LibreOffice / MS Office compatibility

Post by twistedweb »

Out of curiosity is it possible to open Microsoft Access (.adp) file in Libre Office, plugins, 3rd party converter, etc. Urgent help needed and highly appreciated. If not, is there any free alternatives? I am in an office setting and Office is no longer available as no licenses. Libre Office was used to replace.

The quick answer is that there is no freeware alternative to MS Access (as far as I know). If you have been using MS Access and have a setup running on it, best to stick with it.

LibreOffice's Base is suppose to be Access's alternative.

LibreOffice is a fork from Open Office.

It tries to approach functional equivalence, but is certainly not operationally compatible. Don't go there if you want to get some work done. The learning curve is too steep.
