LibreOffice 3.4 profile alterations

Hello, Each time I reboot my ASUS K501E notebook, running Debian Squeeze 64 bit, the profile details entered at the previous session are lost, as a new profile is created each time the computer is rebooted.
However, the details are saved in registrymodifications.xcu.bak . If I remove the .bak extension and replace the new profile with the backed up version, the profile details I entered previously and lists of recent files visited become visible.
I would like to know how to make the profile details permanent.

I also have an oldish PC running Linux Mint and the same version of libreoffice3.4, which works perfectly.
