When I'm creating presentation in Open Office Impress, its hard to add design because when I click design pane it crashes also crashes in slide master. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS and the version of Apache OpenOffice is 4.1.6

I'm running on Xubuntu 18.04.2, a later upgrade of most of your Ubuntu 18.04.1 components, and slide design and slide master are quite stable for me.

Strange problems are sometimes fixed by resetting the profile - see Resetting the user profile.

In all impress files, when I open it, and selected the design pane it crashes

Which UI is used for Ubuntu?

I try installing it on debian and it works maybe its because of ubuntu

I run on Xubuntu 18.04.2, and Impress is stable on that, both for Design Pane and Slide Master. I have just completed a 38 hour edit (over weeks) on a 100 slide unit, incorporationg 200 images. with no crashes of any sort.

Have you permitted Ubuntu 18.04.1 to upgrade - should now be 18.04.2 (run inxi -S in a terminal to get latest configuration)? But I doubt the problem is any minor revision of Ubuntu, as Impress has been stable on earlier versions of Xubuntu, which use the same core files.

Start OO in a terminal (type openoffice4); allow it to crash, and note the error message from the terminal; this may be helpful in diagnosing the cause.

I have the same problem. It even crashes if I try to update the template.

I moved to Debian 10 and downloaded the version 4.1.7 and it got fixed, I'm so happy now maybe my download is broken or it just got fixed in the new version..
