Impress Keeps Dropping slides after Save

I have about 100 slides of images in a presentation. Every time I go in to due edits, then save the file, I lose other slides in some other location in the presentation. It's driving me crazy, I keep thinking an image is in the right place and then it is gone. In the "Normal" view, I end up with a blank white slide with nothing in it, and now have to figure out what image went missing. I put that in and then something else is gone!! Anybody know why this is happening or how to prevent it? Is there some kind of limit on file size or number of slides?? Some earlier file saves were bigger than what I've ended up with. Sure hope there is a workaround or solution - my talk is tomorrow. Using Win10 Home.
