Slides reformatting

Post by FrSeanMaloney »

Hey everyone,

I am wondering if there is an easy solution that we are missing. No one at our office has been able to figure it out.

We are using the presentation program to create powerpoint presentations that we run as a video welcome board. The problem we are running into is that people are using powerpoint or keynote at their desk and when open office imports them in we are losing all the formatting. All the info is there, we just lose everything else. So the transitions, backgrounds, fonts, colors, etc all have to be redone. It is little inconvenient to say the least. the hope was that we would be able to cut that part out.

Any thoughts?

peace,
Rev. Sean Maloney

Always use the native ODF fileformats for the AOO/LO. There is not (never was and never will be) 100% compatibility between the different fileformats. And copy/paste the contents feom foreign sources into your ODF documents without formatting properties.

Are you using the binary fileformat of the MSO or the xml based one? (ppt or pptx?)

You can try the LibreOffice. (A portable vesion for example...) It has a little bit higher compatibility with the foreign fileformats.
