Right click in left sidebar and select "New slide" ("Ny bild"). On the "Drawing tools" ("Ritverktyg") toolbar, find the "T" icon. This enables drawing a text box by clicking/dragging anywhere in the current slide.

Select the slide where text is to be inserted
Menu item Insert - File... (Infoga - Fil...)
