I am using Impress 4.1.1 to produce a new presentation. I would like the 4 opening slides to run quickly so as to give the impression of a film. To do this I am using Advance slide automatically after 1 second and Apply to all slides.
But once slide 4 has shown I want the automatic presentation to stop so I can then start to talk about slide 5 and advance to slide 6 etc at my own pace.
How can I stop the automatic advance? I can see how to turn it on but not how to turn it off.
Thank you.

Does advance after 0 (zero) not turn off the advance - just a guess

Re: How to stop automatic slide advance after (x) slides.
No, afraid not. In a sequence of 6 slides Setting Advance Slide automatically after 0 (zero) secs jumps slides 1 to 6 instantly to the end of the show. I tried setting slides 1 to 4 to 2 secs and slide 5 to 0 (and saving the change) which still jumped from 1 to the end of the test sequence in an instant. I had expected each slide 1-4 to show for 2 secs and then stop at 5.
It seems that once "Apply to all slides" is set it cannot be turned off.
Thanks for the help.

This might help
Setting the timing of automatic slide changes
You can set up a slide show to run automatically, either unattended or while you speak. To set the default time for slides to be displayed before changing to the next slide, go to the Slide Transition pane, leave the transition effect set to No Transition, choose Automatically after in the Advance slide section, set a time, and click the Apply to All Slides button.
To vary the times for some slides, choose Slide Show > Rehearse Timings from the menu bar, or click the Rehearse Timings icon on the Slide Show toolbar. The slide show begins in full-screen mode, and a timer appears in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
When you want to advance to the next slide, click the timer. To keep the default setting for this slide, click the slide, not the timer. Continue for all slides in your presentation. Impress records the display time for each slide. Save your presentation. When you next look at the time set under Automatically after, you will see that the times have changed to match what you set when rehearsing.
If you want the whole presentation to auto-repeat, open the menu Slide Show > Slide Show Settings. Click Auto and OK.

Re: How to stop automatic slide advance after (x) slides.
I created six slides. On the first three I set Slide Show → Slide Transition → Advance Slide → After 1 second. I did not use Apply to All Slides. Then for the rest I used the default of Slide Show → Slide Transition → Advance Slide → On Mouse Click. When I open the attached presentation and use Slide Show → Slide Show the first four slides are displayed but then the presentation does not advance without a mouse click.Tregarth wrote:I would like the 4 opening slides to run quickly so as to give the impression of a film. If you've used Apply to All Slides and set the transition to 1 second, simply go to all of the the slides where you don't want that behavior and change it to On Mouse Click. If you have a lot of slides, use Apply to All Slides to set the most common behavior and then mark the rest as exceptions since there will be fewer of those.Tregarth wrote:How can I stop the automatic advance? If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.
